Class of 61 All Grown up

Greetings, friends!

Welcome to the one and only official and authorized website of the B-CC class of '61.
This website is for YOU! You can post items of general interest that you'd like to share
with your classmates, for example: an article about a Bethesda landmark, or about a teacher
we all remember. Or send an article by or about you or someone we all know. Taken any good trips?
Give us your travel recommendations. If you want to include photos, make sure that the largest
dimension is 350 pixels or less. Please send such items to Barbara Johnson, bj8x@msn.com.

We do request, however, that you not use this site for promoting your business,
soliciting for a cause (no matter how worthy) or for selling anything.
And, please do not make this site a repository for all those fun but long-winded
e-mail jokes and petitions we all get daily. Also, if you've got an ax to grind,
please bear in mind that our class is a diverse group, with a wide range of opinions,
so please don't assume you're preaching to the choir. Save those tirades for less neutral sites.

Thanks! Again, welcome to our class website. Enjoy, and see you at the next reunion?

The Blue and Gold

We'll stand together, though oceans may part us,

We will treasure, though years may be long,

Our high school, our own alma mater,

And the echo of this our song—

To the Blue and the Gold we will raise our song,

To the Blue of loyalty; to the Gold that stands

For the glory gained and the honor still to be,

To the work and fun and friendships won,

Evermore we'll give a cheer,

And we'll raise our Flag of Blue and Gold

Even higher year by year.

Greetings, friends!                    April 13th

First, Phyllis will be home on Monday!  She's very much improved and eager to get back into her daily life.  She's asked us again to thank you for all the good wishes.  They meant more to her than she can possibly express. She's truly overwhelmed by the calls, cards, and e-mails and tells us they greatly contributed to her recovery.

Secondly, Joe Haldeman's book The Accidental Time Machine has been nominated for the Nebula Award for best novel of the year.  His next novel, Marsbound, is due out in August 2008.  And, Joe had a small part in the Oscar-
nominated documentary film   "Operation Homecoming:  Writing the Wartime Experience."

We're also happy to report that not only did Beale Cummings survive the recent illness we told you about in the March e-mail, but lived to tell us about another brush with near disaster.  You remember that in the Winter Newsletter we mentioned the mean man who used to yell at us when we sneaked past the Rollingwood gatehouse, on our way to the deserted castle on the hill?  Well, he shot at Beale with a double-barreled shotgun! Very glad he missed.

To all of you who have sent checks to support the mailings and the upcoming reunion, thank you on behalf of all your classmates.  Your generosity is truly appreciated.

Please keep in touch.  Let us know how you're doing and what you're doing.  We love hearing from you.
