His obituary appeared in the Tacoma Morning News Tribune on August 2, 1990 and read as follows:

Richard Dunn, 47, died July 28, 1990.  Born in Washington D. C., Richard lived in Maryland, California, Texas and New Mexico before moving to Tacoma.  Over the years he made many friends who loved him dearly.
